Toulouse-Lautrec and Friends: The Stein Collection at the High Museum of Art features approximately 80 works.

From Cancan dancers at the Moulin Rouge and the decadent world of Montmartre to advertising posters for rowdy cabarets, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec created some of the world's most recognizable images of turn-of-the-century Paris.

Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's prints and lithographs serve as the centerpiece of the exhibition along with other works on paper by his friends and contemporaries. In addition, sculptures from the seventeenth through early twentieth centuries by such artists as Cordier and Dalou are included in the exhibition celebrating the recently promised gift to the High by collectors Irene and Howard Stein.

The High Museum of Art is located at 1280 Peachtree St. NE, Atlanta, GA 30309.

The High Museum of Art is offering a $3.00 discount for DeKalb County visitors to experience Dali: The Late Work at the High Museum through January 9, 2010.

The first major exhibition to reevaluate the last half of Salvador Dalí’s career is currently presented exclusively at the High Museum of Art through January 9,2010.

Beginning in the late 1930s, Dalí went through a radical change in which he embraced Catholicism, developed the concept of nuclear mysticism and, in effect, reinvented himself as an artist. Comprising more than 100 works including 40 paintings and a related group of drawings, prints and other Dalí ephemera, “Salvador Dalí: The Late Work” also explores the artist’s enduring fascination with science, optical effects and illusionism as well as his connections to such artists of the 1960s and 1970s as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Willem de Kooning.

High Museum of Art Presents Lights, Camara, Dali On September 11, 2010

The High Museum of Art will present "Lights, Camera, Dali" as part of the Film Series - Dali: A Passion for Film at the Rich Theater on Saturday, September 11, 2010 from 8 to 10 p.m.

Salvador Dalí's antic personality and love of the limelight made him a natural performer. This program of shorts looks at Dalí as a celebrity and on-screen personality. Included are Jack Bond's "Dalí in New York," Andy Warhol's "Dalí Screen Tests," and Jonas Mekas's "New York Encounters with Dalí."

The film complements the current exhibition Dali: The Late Work now on display through January 9, 2010 that has attracted media attention from across the country.

Salvador Dali Fever in Atlanta During Opening Festivities for New Exhibit

The High Museum of Art hosted an opening party on Saturday, August 7, 2010 to celebrate the new exhibit, Dali: The Late Work. This exciting new collection is the first major exhibition of Salvador Dali's late work presented exclusively at the High Museum of Art.

The event was held on opening day from 8:00 p.m. to Midnight. I arrived just before 8:00 and there was already a long line of people waiting to get in. There was a genuine excitement in the air of the new exhibit showing from August 7, 2010 to January 9, 2011 at the High Museum in Atlanta.

The opening event was entitled "So Real…Surreal Soiree" and included a number of fun activities including a wearable art fashion show, local artists, flamenco guitarist, Witold Tulodziecki and a jewelry trunk show by Ashley Buchanan.

Of course, the main attraction was the exhibit itself. Upon entering the galleries, one of the first paintings you encounter is the dramatic "Santiago El Grande," which has not left Canada since 1959. It is a painting of enormous size and scale. It is the first of a number of gigantic works created by Dali including the monumental, "Christ of St. John of the Cross." The collection contains more than 100 works, including 40 paintings. There are also a large number of drawings, lithographs and other mediums on display.

I was impressed with the sheer number of works and the wide range of themes featured. Two of the major themes repeated in a number of these works are the blending of Catholic mysticism and physics. However, there are a number of works incorporating surrealism, optical effects or illusionism that Dali was known for as well.

In addition to the paintings, there also a number of profound videos, photographs and articles on display that showed Dali's influence on artists such as Warhol, Litchenstein and de Kooning. Dali: The Late Work is a major, cultural event for the Atlanta area that will captivate, astound and inspire.

The exhibition traces the evolution of the motorcar, examining the contrasts between European and American design, and significant changes in automotive styling and engineering before and after World War II.

The featured automobiles have won awards at prestigious events such as the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, broken records on racetracks, and were previously owned by such noted car enthusiasts as Hollywood legends Clark Gable and Steve McQueen.

Leonardo da Vinci: Hand of the Genius features approximately 50 works, including more than 20 sketches and studies by Leonardo, some of which will be on view in the United States for the first time at the High Museum of Art through February 21, 2010.

Through an examination of the sculpture that Leonardo studied, the drawings he created for his own sculptural projects (the majority of which were never realized) and his interactions with other Renaissance sculptors, the exhibition sheds new light on Leonardo's seminal role in the development of Renaissance sculpture and the work of artists who followed him. The exhibition comprises three major areas: Leonardo - sculptor, student and mentor.
