The City of Decatur is bringing in 60 tons of sand to turn its landlocked square into the Decatur Beach complete with a kid's boardwalk, live music, dancing, food court, and more.
This year the Beach Party celebrates its 25th year. Attendees can start with a visit to "Decatur Beach" set up on Ponce de Leon Avenue with 60 tons of sand and plenty of sand toys. On the Community Bandstand on the Square the Reputations will play beach music and more from 5 - 8 p.m. Then at 8 p.m. Terry Lee and the G.T.'s will play live from the mainstage on the MARTA Plaza. Beachgoers can enjoy "Dancing on the Plaza" until midnight.
