Author and Singer/Songwriter, Rosanne Cash, To Discuss Her New Memoir “Composed” At Agnes Scott College

Legendary singer/songwriter Rosanne Cash will talk about her life and her memoir, “Composed,” at 7 p.m. on August, 14, 2010 in Presser Hall at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia (141 E. College Ave.). The event is presented by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Decatur Book Festival (AJC DBF) and Yuengling Beer and hosted by Agnes Scott and A Cappella Books.

Cash, daughter of music legend Johnny Cash, has promised to share some stories, sign books, and play a couple of songs as part of the event. She will perform on a custom-made Martin D-41 guitar donated by America’s oldest brewery, Yuengling.

“We couldn’t be more excited about hosting this event and the chance to hear Rosanne talk about her life and perform a few songs,” AJC DBF Executive Director Daren Wang said.

Author Bruce Feiler To Speak At Agnes Scott On May 25, 2010

Best-selling author Bruce Feiler will read from his newest book, “The Council of Dads,” and sign books at Agnes Scott College on May 25 at 7 p.m. at Presser Hall, Gaines Chapel. Feiler will sign books in Gaines Chapel immediately following the reading.

This event is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required.

Feiler is the New York Times bestselling author of nine books, including “Walking the Bible,” “Abraham” and “America’s Prophet.” He has traveled to more than 60 countries on five continents and is the writer-presenter of the PBS miniseries, “Walking the Bible.”

With his books, Feiler has moved readers to take a fresh look at history and far-flung places of the world. With “The Council of Dads,” Feiler inspires readers to cultivate a deeper appreciation of the people closest to them and revitalize the most intimate bonds in their lives.

Agnes Scott College To Host The 2010 Great South Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Basketball Championships

Agnes Scott College will host the 2010 Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC) Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships on Feb. 26-27.

The tournament will feature the semifinal round and championship games from both the men’s and women’s tournament brackets. The semifinals will take place on Friday, Feb. 26, with the championship games being played on Saturday, Feb. 27.

George Winston In Concert At Agnes Scott College On February 23rd

Inspired by the seasons, solo pianist George Winston plays over 100 solo piano concerts a year in America and beyond. His concerts feature a variety of styles, including his melodic folk piano, stride piano, New Orleans R&B piano, Vince Guaraldi’s Peanuts pieces and more.

His new CD titled "Love Will Come–The Music of Vince Guaraldi, Volume 2" will be released in February 2010. In concert, George will be performing songs from his upcoming CD, as well as selections from his seasonal favorites "Autumn", "December", "Winter Into Spring and Summer", as well as his themed albums "Forest", "Plains", and "Montana—A Love Story", and his albums dedicated to composers: "Linus & Lucy—The Music of Vince Guaraldi" and "Night Divides the Day—The Music of the Doors."
