Enjoy Jazz On The Lawn At Callanwolde This Summer

Kodac Harrison – Back Street Jazz
Callanwolde opens its 2010 series with internationally acclaimed singer, songwriter and musician, Kodac Harrison. With a style distinctly his own, his bluesy-jazz music reveals imaginative character studies and poetic tales of travel.

June 25 at 7:30 pm
Jim Pearce Band – Modern Creative Jazz
Jim Pearce, Atlanta-based pianist, vocalist and composer, presents tunes that combine hip changes, strong melodies and a refreshing sense of humor. He and his band play in a relaxed, straight -ahead jazz style with killer solos on piano, sax and trumpet – an all-around great band performance.

July 9 at 7:30 pm
Marsha DuPree – Soulful Cabaret Jazz
Marsha DuPree, a beautifully skilled jazz songstress, is known for her “sweet soul” cabaret and musical review specialties. A lead female singer in the Southeast, she presents a soulful fusion of jazz, swing, blues and gospel as she fronts a 5-pc jazz ensemble – The Sweet Soul Jazz Masters.

July 30 at 7:30 pm
Madoca & Company – Contemporary Fusion Jazz
Madoca, Japanese-American composer and jazz keyboard artist, has performed internationally and headlined many jazz venues in Atlanta. She teams up with The Prince Project to create an expressive, passionate performance – a mix of fusion, funk, Latin and contemporary jazz styles.

August 13 at 7:30 pm
Gwen Hughes – Swing Jazz

Gwen Hughes, multiple winner of Creative Loafing’s “Best Jazz Artist” award, swings with a mix of elegant jazz, earthy blues and a little rock ‘n’ roll. Her band The Retro Jazz Kats, blend all these influences seamlessly to create a completely remarkable evening of music.

In case of rain, the concert will be moved to Callanwolde’s indoor courtyard. Parking is free and on-site. For information visit Callanwolde Fine Arts Center.
