Fernbank Museum of Natural History offers a new way for families to celebrate the holidays during the Museum’s Annual Family Holiday Celebration on Sunday, December 6, 2009, from noon to 4 p.m.
This popular annual family event offers guests an opportunity to learn more about celebrations from around the world through activities including performances, a costumed character, storytelling, games, crafts and more.
The 2009 Annual Family Holiday Celebration schedule of events includes:
- Chamblee Chamber Ensemble from noon to 12:45 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. The Chamblee
High School Music Ensemble performs live.
- Chinese Lantern Making Activity from noon to 4 p.m.
- Games From Around the World from noon to 4 p.m. Fernbank will offer a variety of self-
guided games from around the world and showcase pastimes from various historical and
cultural groups.
- Holiday Craft Corner from noon to 4 p.m.
- Snowflake Rubbings from noon to 4 p.m.
- Chinese Lion Dance by the Chien Hong School of Kung Fu at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.The lion dance is
a Chinese traditional performance art that is often demonstrated at celebrations in many Asian
cultures and is believed to bring luck and fortune to all those who see it.
- Strolling Dinosaur from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Local performer Kevin Pittman has created a special
dinosaur costume for this year’s holiday event and will offer photo opportunities for visitors.
- KSU Storytellers at 2 p.m. The Kennesaw State University storytellers will spin tales of
culture and holiday from around the world.
