Fall Weather Ushers In Stone Mountain Park’s 7th Annual Pumpkin Festival

Families are invited to fall into cooler weather and colorful foliage at Stone Mountain Park’s 7th Annual Pumpkin Festival weekends in October. Guests can experience kid-centered entertainment and activities while soaking in the vast display of fall décor complete with nearly 4,000 pumpkins, 500 cornstalks, 500 hay bales and 35 fairy tale themed scarecrows. Stone Mountain Park's annual Pumpkin Festival has become a family favorite with kids and parents alike.

New for 2009, the Pumpkin Festival brings Colleen and The Pesky Gnomes to the stage where children from the audience are the stars of the show. This twenty-five minute show is filled with costumes and multiple acting roles for children to fill. Also, new for 2009 The Pumpkin Tumbler, a 40’ inflatable obstacle course, tumbles kids to their hearts delight.

Other festival activities include feeding the sweet tooth in the pie eating contest and participating in the Pumpkin Parade complete with life-size puppets. After marching in the Pumpkin Parade, costumed children get to participate in the costume contest. For an additional challenge, kids can also follow clues for the Trick or Treat Scavenger Hunt to various locations around the park and collect stamps to reveal the final prize. Furthermore, kids can show their creativity by decorating pumpkins and gourds and by participating in many other arts and crafts in the Pumpkin Party Patch.
